So The Town, it’s got two words involved in it which made me a little concerned - Ben Affleck. Now I have nothing against the guy but he’s had a bad run with his films but let me say this. The Town is AMAZING and the aforementioned Mr Affleck has really pulled it off!

The acting is excellent, the balance of action and drama could not be anymore precise, the characters are real, you believe in them, you understand them, you feel sorry for them and even though a few of them are the reputed bad guys you are willing them to win.
This movie’s strength rests on its close check with reality. The Boston setting is a choice which gives a rich historical background to a story essentially about a dark and dangerous world. A world which 99% of viewers have no experience of. Bankrobbery is luckily not an feature of most people every day lives, and instead of focusing on the bankrobbers, this movie focuses on the people robbing the banks, why they do it, how they do it and what they do when they are not doing it.
Affleck’s writing and directing are great but his acting steps back up to where Good Will Hunting originally put him.
Saying that Jeremy Renner is rapidly ascending my ‘this guy is amazing’ list. He’s great in this movie and despite his characters misgivings he portrays ‘James Coughlin’ in a way that makes you forgive all of his foolish moves and turn a blind eye to his stupidity and really get behind him.
With a few Point Break-esque moments (The Nun masks instantly made me think of the Dead Presidents) to make you smile The Town truly is a gritty drama which you absolutely must go and see.
The script alone deserves a great audience but this truly is a tender and torturous journey for the characters and I recommend you go along for the ride!!
There has been months and months of hype surrounding the Avengers movie and when it finally got released last week, I naturally headed to go see it ASAP and lets say this… it was phenomenal!
Whilst the storyline is the predictable good vs evil, this is the essence of superhero movies and I went into it knowing what I was going to get, except I got a lot more.
Joss Whedon has done a great job with the Avengers. The characters of Iron Man, Black Widow, Captain America and Thor were all resurrected, Hawkeye was on his first proper big screen outing and the Hulk returned in what can only be described as one of the best reincarnations in years. (previous Hulk movies were ok, but Whedon has injected personality and comedy timing to the character of the Hulk which Mark Ruffalo portrays brilliantly.
In fact the entire script is excellent. Its fast pace, quirky one liners and strong characters make it an absolute treat. And that is before we get to the action sequences
.
The coming together of these big personalities was bound to create tension and it is played out in brilliant fight scenes, first amongst themselves and then in a coming together to save the earth.
The special effects are fantastic, not usually one for 3D I indulged on this occasion and I’m pleased I did. It was delivered spectacularly well and really embellished those amazing battle scenes.

Even if superhero movies are not your usual thing I urge you to check this out. Avengers Assemble is the most fun I’ve had at the cinema for ages, and Whedon has miraculously managed to make this full blown, in your face super hero fun, without it being cringeworthy or eye roll inducing.
Assemble your friends and enjoy, oh and stay for the credits and pray for a sequel!

@vickyhinault
Well, it’s still months until it’s released so anything new from this movie is exciting. I can’t wait to see this and see how they move the story on with Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner).
The poster below doesn’t give anything away, but I really like the simple yet bold artwork. The promise of ‘prepare for the unexpected’ has also got me super excited!

The second image shows Renner’s Aaron Cross, face to face with Byer played by Edward Norton. Renner and Norton are two actors that i absolutely love and I can’t wait to see them in one of my favourite franchises.

These images give nothing away in terms of plot all we know is, as the tagline says, “there was never just one” and thank god for that, I for one cannot wait for release day!
