Boca: Review
Based on the true story of Brazils most notorius gangster, Hiroito Joanides de Moraes, Boca charts the highs and lows of Heratios lofty asscent to the King Boca de Lixo.

The film charts Heratio’s life, from angry young man, to king of the 50’s underworld, whilst taking a close look at his love of violence, women, and drugs.
The film won Best Cinematography, and Best Editing at Miami’s Brazilian Film Festival, and it’s not difficult to see why. Not only is it beautifully filmed, with it’s soft coloured hues and the complex and colourful background of Brazil there are moments in the film that are nothing short of awe inspiring.
Whilst i felt the film could have been slightly longer in order to really explore Heratio’s character to the full, this is a great look at a life that fueled by the desire for power quickly becomes a life that looses control. That said Daniel de Oliveira who plays Hiratio, does so with a calm intensity that you are constantly awaiting his next reckless move as it never seems far from the surface.

Brought to you by the same people that brought us City of God the movie is masterfully directed by Flavio Frederico.
Out on Monday I highly recommend you check this movie out of you are looking for a great movie that is not only visually stunning but tells the story of an unpredictable and ultimately fascinating character.
