Let’s Get Ready to Rumble… with this epic new poster for Nichola Winding Refn’s Only God Forgives.
Drenched in the neon hues associated with the Bangkok night this poster featuring the film’s star, Ryan Gosling is awesome! With a stylistic leanback to the Drive campaign where the director and actor first worked together this poster really doesn’t pull any punches in terms of it’s slickness.
Only God Forgives is released in the Uk on August 2nd
Only God Forgives, which sees the director reunite with Ryan Gosling, is set in Bangkok and surrounds Julian (Gosling), the owner of a Thai boxing club which is a front for his drug dealing. Despite being successful and well respected in the criminal underworld his world is turned upside down when the police kill his brother and he is despatched by his mother, Jenna (Scott-Thomas) to see revenge. When his Angel of Vengeance fueled mission does not go his way Jenna begins a ferocious attempt to set things straight.
Nicholas Winding Refn’s Only God Forgives has a new trailer and it is insanely stylish and little bit creepy.
With a rapid change of pace and a glimpse at the brutality we can expect, plus a lot more of the wonderful Kristen Scott Thomas and the lead, Mr Ryan Gosling, we recommend you watch this immediately.
Nicholas Winding Refn’s hotly anticipated Only God Forgives will screen in competition at Cannes Film Festival.
As Ryan Gosling comes back to our screens in Derek Cianfrance’s ‘The Place Beyond the Pines’ the former Disney Club member turned global superstar has recently announced he is taking a break from acting.
While he is reuniting with his Drive director, Nicolas Winding Refn, for Only God Forgives later this year, we thought there was no better time to look back at Gosling’s roles that have thrilled us, terrified us and even a few that have brought us to tears
The Place Beyond the Pines is Derek Cianfrance’s new movie and in it we see the director of Blue Valentine reunite with Ryan Gosling.
The film is essentially a 3 part movie telling a story of fathers, sons and the legacy of family life which spans 15 years. I won’t got any further into the story as it would be far too easy to offer spoilers.
The first section focuses on Gosling’s Drive-esque character, Luke, a motorbike stunt rider who attempts to to change his life for all the right reasons in all the wrong ways.
Only God Forgives has been described as a modern ‘East meets West’ gritty revenge tale. ‘Only God Forgives’ stars Ryan Gosling, who is once again reunited with ‘Drive’ director Nicolas Winding Refn and also features Kirsten Scott Thomas and Tom Burke who complete the key cast. Gosling plays the son of a Florida-based crime syndicate boss (Kristen Scott Thomas), who is plying the drug trade in Thailand with his brother.
Check out the new atmospheric UK poster for The Place Beyond The Pines. With a cast featuring Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, Eva Mendes and Ray Liotta this won’t be one to miss.
Released in the UK on 12 April 2013.
In case you’ve missed it, Ryan Gosling’s upcoming movie, The Place Beyond the Pines, also starring Eva Mendes looks like it is going to be absolultey phenomenal.
Charting the tale of a motorcycle stunt driver who turns to bank robbery to fund a life for his partner and new born baby, Gosling has shaken off his slick hollywood image to portray this frankly grubby and desperate character.
Take a look at the action packed trailer and see for yourself. Then you can join our countdown as we desperately wait for this one!
The Best Rain Scenes
Is there anything better than watching a movie to discover that most romantic moment when two people are caught in the rain, often involving a kiss? A kiss, that is slow and passionate that wouldn’t be nearly as great without said rain? Upcoming film Safe Haven gives viewers just that. As the latest Nicholas Sparks novel to hit the silver screen, Safe Haven follows the story of Katie (Julianne Hough), a young woman trying to escape her past, as she travels to North Carolina and develops a relationship with single dad and widower Alex (Josh Duhamel). If there’s anything we’ve learned from Nicholas Sparks, it’s that no movie is complete without a classic kissing scene, especially those in the rain. In celebration of the March release of Safe Haven, we give you our favourite movie rain scenes.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961) – Holly and Paul
‘’Cat. Cat. Cat. Catttttttttt.’’ Leading lady Audrey Hepburn finds her cat and her man. No words are needed as a mutual longing stare into each others’ eyes says more than words could. The melody of Moon River provides the perfect ending as the film comes full circle.
Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994) – Charles and Carrie
The unconventional completely backwards yet somehow still perfect ‘’I DO’’ moment. From our favourite British sweetheart, the one and only Hugh Grant: ‘’For the first time in my whole life I realized that I totally and utterly loved one person. It’s the person standing opposite me now. In the rain. The truth of it is I’ve loved you from the first second I met you.’’ Insert awesome kiss here.
Spider-man (2002) – Spider-Man and Mary Jane
‘’Don’t I get to say thank you this time?’’ The world’s first, only, and best upside down kiss in cinematic history. Need I say more?
Sweet Home Alabama (2002) – Jake and Mel
Mel (Reese Witherspoon): ‘’You’re the first boy I ever kissed Jake. And I want you to be the last.’’
Jake (Josh Lucas): ‘’What you wanna be married to me anyhow?’
Mel: ‘’ So I can kiss you anytime I want.’’
There just ain’t nothin’ sweeter than some good ole’ country lovin’. Lynyrd Skynyrd + country accents = southern romance at its finest.
The Notebook (2004) – Noah and Allie
‘’I wrote you 365 letters. I wrote you every day for a year. It wasn’t over. It still isn’t over.’’ Ryan Gosling provides the most intense head grab we’ve had the pleasure of witnessing thus far. The kiss was so great that the then real life couple re-enacted it at the 2005 MTV movie awards upon being named ‘Best Kiss.’ We are quite confident this kiss will remain one of the best for movies to come. Thank you Nicholas Sparks, we are eternally grateful.
In the Land of Women (2007) – Agnes and Carter
Agnes (Meg Ryan): ‘’I’m sick. I have breast cancer.’’
Carter (Adam Brody): ‘’Look at me. I’m right here and I promise you you’re gonna be alright.’’
Not only does Adam Brody pull her up, literally and figuratively, he proves once and for all that true love knows no age. Awww.
Dear John (2010) – John and Savannah
‘’You don’t scare me John. (Channing Tatum)’’ ‘’No? Well you scare me.’’- Channing Tatum. Savannah (Amanda Seyfried) smiles innocently as she looks down at the floor preceding 6 miserable seconds of anticipation. Channing Tatum then manages to pick her up and sit back down despite the torrential down pour, all while giving her a kiss. Now that’s talent. Did we mention it’s Channing Tatum?
Safe Haven (2013) – Katie and Alex
‘’Would you like to go canoeing with me?’’ Insert canoe ride. Romantic frolicking in the rain. KISS. Alex (aka Josh Duhamel as a sexy widower and single dad) proclaims to Katie (aka Julianne Hough as a young women trying to escape her mysterious past): ‘’I love you and I can’t let you go. There’s no safer place for you than here with me.’’ Feel like you need some more details? We did that on purpose to create an element of surprise. And that’s just what this movie has. Want to know what happens next? You will just have to wait and see Safe Haven when it hits cinemas 1 March.
SAFE HAVEN is out in UK cinemas from 1st March
